CIGF 2011 – A Success!
About 50 golfers representing 10 nations participated at the 2011 Calvary International Golf Fellowship (CIGF) from 5 to 8 October, 2011.
God favored the golfers with excellent weather as they enjoyed 2 rounds of golf at The Mines Resort Golf Club (Mines) on 6 October and at The Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC) on 7 October. Some of the Christian golfers were able to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with their fellow golfers who were potential believers.
Our special guest speaker, Dr Richard Roberts, Chairman of Oral Roberts Association, shot a solid drive of 261 meters to win the longest drive prize at the Mines on Thursday. He and his team also won First Place at the RSGC on Friday.
Dr. Roberts together with the foreign participants visited the Calvary Convention Centre(CCC) building site just before sunrise on Thursday morning. They were encouraged and amazed upon hearing about the miracles God has done throughout our journey of faith to complete the CCC.
More than 100 non-golfing participants, many of whom were potential believers, also participated at the Welcome and Fellowship Dinners at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur. They were blessed by the exhortation of God’s Word on “Abundant Living” by Senior Pastor Rev. Tan Sri Prince Guneratnam, and Dr Roberts.
35 participants participated at the High Tea Fellowship event at the Malaysian Petroleum Club. They had the exclusive opportunity to enjoy the view of Kuala Lumpur as they walked on the upper deck of the bridge connecting the KLCC Petronas Twin Towers.
As it enters into a new phase, the CIGF will evolve from the 4-days/3-nights format to a 3-days/2-nights format, and will be held in at least 2 other cities around the region in 2012.
The CIGF participants from Thailand have graciously offered to host the first 2012 CIGF event in Bangkok, Thailand in March 2012. More information will be available soon. However, we invite you to register your interest to receive the latest updates.
